I purchased a new-to-me loom. It was supposed to be a contramarche Glimakra, but when I went to see it, the loom was a counterbalance. It is a nice little loom, and I was really looking for an overhead beater. Sometimes when I am weaving a lot, controlling the low pivot of the bottom beater is hard on my wrists and back. So I will last longer- but I wish it had been a contramarche.

Holiday scarves are taking over my world. Fortunately, the colors I am working with are exciting to me and I like the yarn weight. I am looking forward to some workshops in the first of the year.

Working through the Storm

All of the drama that I have been driving through falls behind me when I start getting out the yarns, dyes and sketches. I have been working on a group of scarf warps with rich jeweltone colors all over the spectrum. The fall leaves are always an overwhelming gift of inspiration. I have to try and keep up with the sketches, the color combinations and get all my yarns together for the right textures. So these have been great- the warm glowing sunsets that are here every evening, and those apricot colors on the tips of the yellow-green maple trees, but some of my favorites are the rich reds, purples and golden yellows that are on the fragrant sweet gum trees. And the clear nights and deep blue evening sky with the sparkling clouds- when there is no rain! but then, when there is rain, the gray and the yellow and the green. Wow. I may never get them all!
